If you follow along with me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I recently asked for outfits that people could use suggestions for. I wanted to know where they’re running stuck and could use a real life, real closet suggestion.

Spring this year feels really important. While life isn’t completely back to normal (PS-I think that post COVID life will be one of those new-normal situations anyway), there are remnants of normalcy that seem to be coming back each day.

Once upon a time there were two friends: Abby and Ashley. They both loved fashion and talked about it often. One day, they decided to meet up to work together and Abby told Ashley she didn’t like her outfit.

There are a few color combos that I am always a sucker for-most things that are black and white, a monochromatic, neutral look, and any blue and white stripes. There’s something fresh and crisp about them in the most nautical inspired way.

I can’t believe how much I have worn this trench coat. When I bought it, I was thinking it would come in handy on rainy days or when we are in that weird in between (post winter weather, pre real warm Spring weather).

It’s easy to feel a bit caged this time of year. With the days being cold, I miss the ‘outdoor stuff’ we take for granted during the summer/fall: dining on a patio, walks, ya know, not being frigid while you walk into Target.

If you follow along on Instagram, you might have caught the great beret debate with my friend Abby. She and I might disagree on wearing techniques, but we agree that they elevate any outfit.

I’m back with another outfit from my whirlwind trip to Detroit. The weather while I was there was C O L D, but that just gave me a chance to wear a few of my favorite coats/hats/boots.

I enjoyed a quick trip to Detroit recently. A driveable 2ish hours from Grand Rapids, it’s an easy overnight or day trip. It’s an inspiring place. Given their comeback story, you feel like heart and hustle is naturally injected into the city’s DNA.

There are certain clothing “strategies” that I have found helpful. While I like to keep it fairly open for my mood, there’s something mentally helpful (and efficient) about having a pseudo uniform for busy days.

Winter boots are a struggle for me. It’s wildly ironic since…ya know, we live in Michigan. Here’s my issue: the warmest, grippy-est boots always look the worst. I think there’s a giant hole in the footwear industry when it comes to boot aesthetics.

I love that floral prints are having a continued moment. A cheery floral print is always a win in my book. They seem to magically grant you a happy attitude just by slipping it on.

I can’t help but love getting dressed for the holiday season. The textures, colors, and tones in clothing during this time of year are some of my favorite (think metallics, tweed, sequins).

I’m sure many of you know the Abby from Instagram so here’s a little secret…that’s the same Abby you get in person. She’s every ounce as funny, smart, driven, and stylish as you would think. I’m still not sure how she manages to balance everything she does in a day, and to have a front row seat to her as a mama is inspiring.

I love thinking about cost per wear when I’m shopping for good basics. While I love a good over-the-top-you-won’t-be-wearing-this-all-the-time item, for daily drivers, I like to ensure that I pick clothing and accessories that will be comfortable, durable, and as timeless as possible when it comes to style.

While this election season has been anything but inspiring, I do find the ability to vote deeply meaningful. The chance for us as citizens to have such a direct say in our nation’s story is a right that many don’t have. Whenever I’m headed to the voting booth, I think about the people who paved the way for me to be able to drive up, walk in, and take my place. It’s humbling.

These caftans are now a part of my family. I’m convinced they are the perfect dress. No fuss + pockets? Sign a girl up. They came out with three different prints for it: plain black, blue and white stripe, and a bold floral. To be safe, I got one of each.
