Gal's Day | Holiday Shopping at Woodland Mall

Round up your favorite shopping pals, it’s go-time.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! If you’re someone that enjoys giving gifts (like yours truly), this is our Super Bowl. While it’s festively magical, the busyness of this season can be overwhelming at times. Thankfully, Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids is here to help take any gift list frustration out of your December.

While shopping online is convenient, there’s still nothing like wandering through a store looking for that perfect ‘something’ for the people in your life. To add icing to this Christmas-y cake, I rounded up a couple friends for a gal’s day of shopping, lunch, and most importantly, finishing up our holiday shopping. Not only is it nice to have company while you shop, it’s helpful to have other opinions/ideas for items you’re considering as a gift or for yourself.

For all of our differing shopping needs, Woodland Mall is a convenient, one stop shop. I wanted to share a rundown of our day/a few gift ideas in case you 1). Could use a bit of quality time with friends and 2). Have been procrastinating getting your shopping done (like me).

FUEL UP
Start your morning off right with a cup of coffee from Starbucks (located right in the middle of the mall), a smoothie from Jamba Juice, or tea from Totally Tea. Hydration is key my friends…a gal’s day of shopping is no sprint, it’s a marathon.

GAME TIME
With drink in hand, it’s time to get down to business. Here’s a list of the stores I always make a point of visiting along with gift-able items I noticed in each one!

  • VON MAUR-For gifts, take note of the brands you can purchase there that don’t have stand alone storefronts in the mall like Kate Spade, Joules, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren etc.

  • URBAN OUTFITTERS-Great record collection for the music fan in your life, adorable pajama sets and loungewear

  • WILLIAMS SONOMA-Endless items that could be included in baskets for host(ess), co-worker, teacher, or Secret Santa gifts like mulling spices/cider, sauces, cocktail accessories, kitchen gadgets, and boxed holiday treats

  • SEPHORA-Their holiday perfume sets are a great gift along with travel kits and skincare bundles

  • POTTERY BARN-It always feels extra cozy when you walk into their store this time of year-they had a lot of wildly soft blankets that make easy, warm gifts

  • J.CREW-J.Crew never fails to have a selection of winter coats in the happiest colors for the fashionistas in your life (PS-Their accessories were extra fun too)

  • APPLE-AirPods and iPhone accessories for your resident tech aficionado

  • BARNES AND NOBLE-Books galore of course, but also a great gift section for stocking stuffers

  • NORTH FACE-Furry hats and gloves, classic coats to stand up to any Midwest weather

  • LUSH-Pre-wrapped gift sets organized by whatever your budget is, create your own sets

  • REI-Located outside of the mall in a stand alone shop, this is my go-to for any of the outdoorsy gift requests in my life

LUNCH BREAK

We ended our shopping adventure with lunch and a glass of wine at Black Rock Bar & Grill. It’s connected to the mall for convenient access. Along with Black Rock, there are a lot of other great dining options from Cheesecake Factory to the mall food court. You can find a directory of options here.

If you haven’t visited Woodland yet this season, make your plan for a gal’s outing today. There’s not much that quality time with friends and a little retail therapy can’t fix.

Stay up to date on what’s happening at the mall (like the Phoenix Theater that will be opening soon), visit their website or follow along with them on Instagram.

Sincerely,
Ashley

*I partnered with Woodland Mall for this post, but thoughts, opinions, and content are my own.
