Utility & Oxford

Run around for the day outfit...

It's always interesting to dress for the normal 'life stuff' like running errands or grabbing a cup of coffee. You want to feel comfortable/have pockets to utilize/not hate yourself for the shoes you're wearing but also not look like you just rolled out of bed to face your to-do list.

This outfit seems to be a good solution for that dilemma. I love the crispness that a white oxford brings to an outfit. While I dressed it down with jeans and a tan utility jacket, the clean simplicity remained. Speaking of the jacket-they 100% live up to their name. They're practical and functional while maintaining some nice lines. They're a versatile piece to have this time of year; they take the chill out of the air but are a step down from clunky winter coats. I wear these jeans all the time; they're a bit cropped so they're perfect to wear with booties or ankle strap heels/flats.

Let me sing a love song to these booties. I don't always shop at Forever 21 but wandered in there when I saw a back wall of just boots. I've gotten a ton of compliments on them and they were only $27! They're an ideal balance to some of my more expensive pairs (especially since shoes can get absolutely destroyed during Michigan winters #salterrrywhere). Also, maybe it's just me but I get frustrated with booties that zip on the outside; seems unnatural. Anyway, these guys have a fake zipper on the outside and then truly zip on the inside...WHICH IS CORRECT. Rant over.

My Madewell tote was the perfect partner for romping around. I am in L-O-V-E with this bag. It was a birthday gift from Doug after he saw me admiring my sister-in-law's (she has killer taste). Well aware of my initial obsession, he got "AW" monogrammed on the front in gold...what a gem. The leather itself is called English Saddle and it's amazingly buttery.
