Now Welcoming: Fresh Air

In need of a hefty dose of fresh air?

Between summer and still living in a world of Coronavirus, I find myself craving time outside. I have been working from home much more than normal and I am surprised at how different that feels vs. heading to a coffeeshop where there is noise/people/conversation around you. It has left me looking for ways to be around people in a responsible way and head outdoors.

FARMERS MARKET
Heading to different farmers markets has been a welcomed habit over the past few weeks. Not only does it support small and local growers, it provides so many articles that we could all use namely getting out of the house and stocking up on some freshness.

I’m always left with a bit of a mood boost because nothing beats in-season fruit or a bunch of cheery flowers. For local friends, these photos are from the Holland Farmers Market which is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There’s always a nice collection of vendors which allows you to knock out a good chunk of your grocery list. PS-Don’t forget to grab a coffee or fresh squeezed lemonade before you stroll.

The market has also been a great way to get a bit of needed friend time in. I love hearing about what people are cooking based on what they’re picking up. On this particular trip, I had the pleasure of being joined by my pal Abby and her cutie son Otto. ARE THOSE NOT THE BEST SUNNIES YOU HAVE EVER SEEN?

While farmers markets have been a consistent way that I am venturing out each week, here are a few other activities that are welcome breaks.

PATIO REFRESHMENTS
Coronavirus or not, this is one of my favorite activities in the summer. Cocktails or a solid charcuterie board while you’re watching the world go by=delight. This has been a great way to be able to gather with friends and dine out safely.

SUNSET SURVEYORS
Again, summer always brings the most phenomenal sunsets and there is nowhere like the beach to catch them. The world is heavy right now and it’s important to take mental and emotional breaks so that you can more adequately show up for people. I find this calm near the water…there’s something methodically peaceful about the waves coming in and out while you dig your feet into the sand.

WALK IT OUT
I know we aren’t alone in this but since sheltering in place, walks have become pretty much a daily undertaking for us. It’s a great chance to catch up on the day and get exercise at the same time (for us and Paisley). Whether it’s your neighborhood or a local nature trail, walks are the perfect change of scenery if you have been cooped up all day.

I know that this season has been trying for many. Uncertainty (and let’s be real, a bit of fear) brings a lot of stress which seems to be magnified when you’re sitting at home without many of your normal “out and about” happenings. I hope this little list brings a new idea to you if you’re looking for a break. Make sure to share what you’re up to outside as well!

Sincerely,
Ashley
