Bee Tree in a Mauve Dress + Taking Creative Breaks

Some bees weren’t going to stop us (that sounds confident, if you saw two girls running/screaming in a park by a tree of flowers that was probably us).

My friend Darline and I have been on the hunt for a flowering tree or bush. What screams springy/summer more than that? I kept sending her messages about my dreams for a bright pink or coral-y floral situation. One day she messaged me that she had passed one at a local park so we met up there to snap some photos.

Darline is terrified of bees so when we walked up and heard buzzing we both were a bit hesitant. Make sense with gigantic tree of flowers…if you looked at the branches of blooms you could see the tiny bees flying around them. With her yelling “welp, this is do it for the gram” we set our fear aside and started taking photos. Laying on the ground, climbing through a tree, and lots of dodging bees later, we both felt as though we had some shots we were happy with.

We were probably there for about 1/2 hour so nothing crazy but if you go in knowing what you’re looking for, you can be fairly efficient (running from bees aside). I continue to find these little sessions to be a great way to exercise some creativity and break out of work ruts. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate…again we were only there for about 30 minutes, but it gave us both a break in our day to play, engage our minds in a different way, and spend some time together.

Darline just Beyonce-ing out here first shot. NBD. She’s usually behind the camera but when she’s in front of it…GAME OVER.
